“I’d definitely recommend John’s work and wouldn’t hesitate to commission him again.”

Unpacking the project.

Redpack Packaging Machinery are a leading manufacture of high-end Flow-Wrapping Solutions and needed to showcase their machines and processes with detailed videos and photography. The videos needed to clearly demonstrate the manufacturing quality and versatility. The photography needed to be consistent in angles, viewer height and style whilst also clearly showcasing the details of each machine.
Lets go!

Machine videos.

Detailing the process and the key areas of the machines that make Redpack the market leader.

Standardised photography.

Photographing the machines in the factory, but standardising the angels and the look.

Project objectives.

1 Support brand image: Produce product videos and photography that clearly demonstrate the build quality.

2 Enhance product presentation: Rationalise the machinery photography so each machine has a consistent look - angles, style and colour.

3 Stimulate engagement: Create short form explanation video content that could be used on social or in direct email to support the sales process.

Our approach.

1 Ground work: We discussed the project with Jeremy, looking at options of how to best photograph the machines in the factory and what information we would need to make the videos. He worked on the story board, highlighting the key areas of the machine.

2. On the shoot: Using the storyboard enabled us to run though the shoot logically from the in-feed area through to the finished packed product. We filmed multiple angles and details to give enough footage for cut aways to edit with and several parts of the machine were filmed in slow motion so we could highlight exactly what was happing at that point.

3. Lighting and Composition: For the video we used constant LED lighting to control the colour casts. Where possible tighter shots were used to hide any background issues, combined with detailed close ups.

For the photography we masked the background around the machine and used a multi flash approach to build a set of composite images that would highlight key areas of each machine.

4. Post-Production: The video footage was edited using the storyboard as a guide. We added titles and product details over the footage and were also able to produce the videos in multi language options.

The photographs were composites of several images merged together and the background was removed removed.
Each shot was colour balanced to match and closeups were retouched to remove unwanted imperfections.

Conclusion

Redpack Packaging Machinery were able to use the imagery on data sheets for each machine, exhibition panels and on their website. Videos were played at trade shows and used across social media to highlight key details in the wrapping process and demonstrate the quality of the process..

“I worked with John on projects to create films and still photography of Redpack Packaging Machines including flow wrappers, tray sealer and check weigher.

Throughout the process John was excellent, well organised and professional. His turnaround was extremely fast, particularly on the film to promote the P325-SP snack.

I’d definitely recommend John’s work and wouldn’t hesitate to commission him again.”
