We had a trip down to the sea side to photograph Jason and Terris wedding last Friday at the West Cliff Hotel, in Southend-On-Sea.
I hadn’t met them before their wedding day, they were recommended to me by another photographer, so I was pleased to find out they were such a lovely couple – very laid back and easy to photograph and they both laughed all day along with the guests.
After the ceremony we headed across the road and took some group shots looking across the Sea to Canvey Islands. Then we has some time with the newly weds for some portraits along the front before ‘hot-footing’ it back to the hotel for speeches, cake cutting and their 1st dance
And we finished the night off with Fish and Chips before leaving the coast.

Sketch out an idea on paper, book a great model (Harriet, who has a photography degree by the way), order 50 meters of red ribbon, locate a couple of wind machines and find a part derelict Abbey to shoot in – easy really.
After the ribbon dress we acquired a green chair, had a change of clothing and did some shots before relocating to another part of the abbey for some gritty style pictures in the corridors.
Big thanks to Jason for finding the location, Steve for the help on moving lights, Dan & Adam for helping with the ribbons and of course Harriet for putting up with us all day and remaining completely calm while we wrapped ribbon around her.

The lovely Sarah & Mark Jackson (aka sparky) were married at Oakham School Chapel in Rutland on 20th November 2010 and their reception was at the stunning Burghley House in Stamford. www.burghley.co.uk – I may have to use the word lovely a lot in this post.
Sarah got ready at her parents house and Mark at Lord Nelson House no less, in Oakham. Sarah wore a lovely figure hugging dress and Mark looked resplendent in his top hat and tails. Sarah was only a 5 minute drive to the Chapel and Mark a short walk.
The service was attended by close family and friends and then everybody made their way, through the mist, to the stunning Burghley House in Stamford. We chased each other around the 40 acres estate and did some photography in the Burghley grounds and with the dark coming in early everybody was ushered into the Great Hall for dinner and speeches.
The party got into full swing after Mr & Mrs Jackson and had their first dance and while the guests got their groove on we headed in to the lovely Burghley House State rooms for some bride and groom pictures. Starting on Hells Staircase, an 11 month project completed by Antonio Verrio working mainly alone, having lost his assistants to more financially secure projects. We then went into The Heaven Room were the loves and excesses of the Gods of Mount Olympus are laid bare for all to see – lovely.

A small break from weddings and portraits – I had some of my images published in Classic Car Weekly this week, on sale now, words by Dave Richards and pics by me.
Got to say a big thank you to Adam Duckworth for asking me along on the trip. Adam interviewed Max Anstie at his home in the LA hills for Moto ( <a href="http://www.moto.mpora.com" rel="nofollow">www.moto.mpora.com</a> ) then we did 10 days of driving from LA to Vegas onto Bonniville back to LA, getting stopped for speeding late at night, met some nice people, met some very scary folk. Flew to NY and drove about 4 hours north (in really crappy American car!!) to cover a Moto cross race in Unadilla for Moto ( <a href="http://www.moto.mpora.com" rel="nofollow">www.moto.mpora.com</a> ).
I such had such a blast, and we only fell out once and that was my fault – 'its there between the land and sky Adam!'

Has Former Confirmed Bachelor Victor Keyton hang up his Helmet after 45 years of Racing?
Victor Keyton of Hargrave, Suffolk, a keen scrambler has just completed 45 years of nonstop competitive riding, including eight years as an expert. During this time he competed against the likes of Banks, Eastwood, Bickers and Horesfield and the then up and coming Nicoll, Nunn, Mays and Whatley on circuits around the country.
Bikes were never far from Victors thoughts and the couple even posed for a few photographs for the album with his two bikes and a tractor outside the church.

Linda, or 'my friends hot mate' as Simon called her, got ready at the Swan Hotel Bedford – www.swanhotel.com – and had 5 brides maids wearing stunning red dresses. Simon was at his mom and dads house having a cheeky Jack-D to calm the pre-match nerves. Then a quick trip to St Peters and St Pauls Church, Cranfield, to be married by Hugh Symes-Thompson. The wedding breakfast was back at the 4 star Swan Hotel Bedford. We stopped on the way to take some great photographs along the Great Ouse, with a fantastic wedding car.
Have a look at their first dance shots, they rocked the dance floor even though they said no to a first dance!!!
Then later on we did some stunning night shots around The Hotel and the Old Bridge.
Another great day for us and we just got this message from the lovely couple "Thanks so much John, you brought so much more than photos to the day and the pictures are incredible"

The wedding was in the Barn at The White Hart, Essex – www.whitehartweddingvenue.co.uk and the wedding breakfast was there too.
With the ceremony at 4pm we had lots of time to capture great wedding photographs of Kelly and her six wonderful bridesmaids, who looked fantastic in black, as well as the boys being boys.
The heavens opened as we were doing the formal group shots but we battled on inside and were then invited to sit with the guests for plate of 'Bangers & Mash' before the speeches and the all important 1st dance.
And to cap it off the best man wrote a song for his speech.
Michaels band Superphonic (www.superphonic.biz) played a tight set and when we left they were all still partying the night away.

Then across to the Barns at Knebworth and finished off the day with a cracking 1st dance to Frank Sinatra.
